Spiral Plaits

Toby has been plaiting wools and ribbons and then spiralling them around and sewing them together. We have made one brooch with a spiral ontop of a huge old button with beads hanging down from it. Here are some more spirals, we havent decided what to do with them yet, any ideas?

Toby, your spirals are really are made with lovley colours. I'm sure you will think of something to do with them.

They look like they ought to cover great, big, fat coat buttons. :-)

Or sewn together side to side (so's the flat bit is uppermost to use more space and show off the spiral) maybe with beads interspacing them, to make a chunky bracelet. You'd want to be charging a fair price for them as they would probably be quite time consuming.

Hi Toby,

You could turn them into pendants for necklaces, strung onto colour-coordinated ribbons or leather with maybe a few beads either incorporated into the plaited wool or hanging from the bottom. For extra durability you could sew or stick them onto a piece of leather. Leather might be a nice material for the spirals, too. Or you could combine them with your "spiders/flowers" and add them to the centre instead of the button?

The colours are beautiful. You've got a real eye for colour. :-)

Great ideas Sybille i especially like the one where the spiral is sewn onto leather, perhaps like Gretel said as a chunky bracelet
