The Midget

Hi everyone!
I recently bought this hand held sewing machine in a box of jumble from my local antiques center. I can thread the top up but cannot do the bottom. Has anyone seen anything like this before?/got any advice?
It has 2 labels on it one saying "The Midget. Hemmer Stitcher. Automatic" and the other saying "Made In Japan".
Thanks,
Toby.

hi Toby, I meant to wish you a happy birthday (which it looks like you did, what qreat selection of presents!) but I'm a bit late now - but the thought was there. I'm just having a hunt for your instructions, will let you know when/if I find anything.

Wow! Its really cute. I have been toying with the idea of getting one because our flat is so small we don't have room for a table, so no space for a full size sewing machine! We eat off the coffee table. I hope you can get it to work. Please let me know if it's good to use.

hey toby
i've got one of these
(looks like you've threaded it correctly on the top)
you don't have to worry about the bottom
just pull around two inches of the thread out from the needle
fix the fabric so that it is settled underneath the needle and in between the metal flap
and start stapling with your right hand whilst pulling the fabric to your left with your left hand
remember to staple it completely so that you make complete stitches
when you want to end the stitching, just pull some extra thread out (without undoing your stitches) and hand sew a knot
have fun
