Dragon Pot

This is Toby's 'Dragon' he made at his ceramics class, it stands about 15 " tall, I imagine it holding a single lily for a head, or perhaps a hyacinth, like Marge Simpsons hair!

Looks amazing Toby! Sorry to sound really thick but how did you get all those colours in the vase? Is it justr painted? Love the curly tail!

I don't know if you have ever seen the films 'Little Shop of Horrors' or 'Day of the Triffids' but this reminds me of some exotic plant that has ulterior motives! Love the way the colours have run with the glaze.

Hi pea,
The colours on it are glazes, (sorry if you already know this) but glaze is made from really finely crushed glass and pigments (like metal oxides(this is where the colour colbalt blue comes from!)) mixed with water, and then the whole thing goes in a giant oven called a kiln, which goes up to temperatures of around 1150 degrees centegrade, and the glass melts.
Toby.

Hi Ladysnail, we have had enormous lily heads in the top, in a little glass tube with water, and they look fantastic!
