Millefiori earrings

Hi,

I made these polymer clay earrings recently, click on photo to see larger and in more detail. The first pair are made from a bulls-eye cane, which is made from rolling different coloured sheets of polymer clay round a central sausage!
The second pair are made using jelly-roll, flower, and bulls-eye canes. The jelly-roll cane is made by layering 2 sheets of contrasting coloured polymer clays on top of each other then rolling them into a sausage. A flower cane is a more complicated cane made by making one large bulls-eye cane then surrounding it by smaller ones before sausageizing. After the canes are sausegized, they are sliced up with a tissue blade (very thin blade) then holed through the middle and baked in the oven. When they have cooled they can be strung, headpinned or incorporated into any design you fancy!

The earrings are £6.50 a pair plus p+p.

Ladysnail's Etsy shop open!

'Angel Spangles in hell', that's what Toby has named this image. A while ago our friend Debbie sent Toby a tooth and a pigeon. He named the pigeon 'Spangles'. Before flying up to the bedroom to live, Spangles was scanned into Photoshop, Toby gave the pigeon a halo and some wings and created this red and black background. Anyway, the reason I am telling you all this really, is to announce the opening of Debbies new Etsy shop which is full of lots of lovely things, go have a look:

bird?

I've had a cold and have been off school sick, so have been in the studio with my mum painting.
These are painted on plywood with acrylic, and detailed with a fineliner.
What has the bird on the first picture lost?
Is the second one a bird, a fish, or a bishird?
Toby.

Thank you!

These are the WONDEROUS beads, and FANTABULOUS green wool ladysnail bought back from her holiday in Turkey for me.
Thankyou Ladysnail!!
Keep checking her blog as she is in the process of setting up an etsy shop!

Toby retrospective!

Looking through a cd of old images I came accross this, which Toby made when he was 9. (click to enlarge and see in more detail)
He created quite alot of 'arrangements' to photograph on our kitchen floor at that time and I think they are fab! Look at the way he has fanned out the spring onions and lined up the almonds alongside, and also all the little coffee beans in a stripe along the cucumber. That reminds me, I saw some lovely produce pics on Tara's blog recently, have a look: http://www.tlcillustration.blogspot.com/
